Products eligible for the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ are those that have been created or intended for use by persons with eczema or severe sensitive skin conditions and that have satisfied the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ criteria.
NEA Seal of Acceptance™ criteria includes a list of ingredients that should be avoided because they contain known irritants. Depending on the product, the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ Review Panel considers testing data on sensitivity as well as the ingredients and formulation data.
Acceptance of a specific product does not represent an endorsement of that product. Acceptance of a product means that the product has been evaluated to determine that it does not contain ingredients or contents that are known to be unsuitable for use by persons with eczema or sensitive skin conditions. NEA makes no representation or warranty regarding any of the accepted products; including without limitation any implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for any particular purpose.
The National Eczema Association Seal of Acceptance awards accepted products either a five or four star rating. This is based on the product’s ingredients, formulation, and submitted clinical safety testing. A product awarded five stars have no ingredients that are currently thought to have a sensitizing impact for eczema patients. Products awarded four stars contain ingredients that may be of concern to certain individuals, but are acceptable for most. Ingredients of concern will be noted in the product review in the NEA directory.
Products bearing the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ become aligned with the preeminent, professional, non-profit voluntary health organization whose mission is to improve the health and quality of life for individuals with eczema through research, support and education. The marketing benefits of participation include:
• The use of the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ logo on accepted product packaging, in advertisements, promotions and product webpage.
• Inclusion on a list of accepted products to appear on the NEA website and NEA publications.
• Placement of a link from the product website to the official NEA Seal of Acceptance™ Product Directory web page.
• Distinct National Eczema Association recognition.
The NEA Seal of Acceptance™ Application process, including application review by the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ Review Panel of all pertinent product category application data, takes approximately 90-120 days.
An annual non-refundable application fee is required for products submitted for acceptance. The application fee helps to cover operational expenses for the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ program. Application fees for products that are not awarded the NEA Seal of Acceptance™ are not refunded.
Special Note: Nut oils and some natural ingredients can raise allergy issues for some individuals and be of concern for pediatric patients. Each NEA Seal of Acceptance™ Review will alert consumers to the presence of nut oils and similar natural ingredients. Please contact your medical professional for guidance.
