Considered the “Godfather of Itch,” Dr. Yosipovitch is an internationally renowned itch researcher and a member of NEA’s Scientific Advisory Committee. Dr. Yosipovitch is currently Chair of the Department of Dermatology at Temple University School of Medicine and Director of the Temple Itch Center.

Study Name: Investigation of the Effects of Perspiration on Pruritus in Atopic Eczema

Purpose of Study: The purpose of this research study is to examine the effect of sweat on itch intensity and neuropeptides in patients with atopic eczema.

Study is currently recruiting patients through June 2014.


  • Be 18- 60 years old
  • Have severe atopic eczema
  • Have intense itch for more than 2 months
  • Be able to speak English or Spanish
  • NOT be pregnant or nursing
  • NOT be involved in another research study
  • NOT have a history of allergies to pilocarpine or iodine
  • NOT have a history of neuropathy, uncontrolled thyroid disease or diabetes mellitus
