Jasmine was diagnosed with eczema at the age of 5 months. It was mild until she was 4 years old and then it became severe. Her skin is much better these days, but occasionally flares. There is a family history of eczema but neither parent has eczema. Jasmine is now 13.

We attend the NEA Patient Conference because there is nowhere else we as a family would want to be. We have attended the NEA Conference since our daughter was 6 years old; we have not missed one conference since 2006. We consider many of the participants our family. Each year we attend we learn a great deal.
There is so much that you will get out of this conference. You receive so much information about this disease and have the opportunity to talk directly to many healthcare providers who treat patients with eczema every day in their practices. If you have a child with eczema, he or she will never forget their experiences of being around other children with eczema. The staff in the NEA Kids and Teen Camps at the conference are wonderful and compassionate. We cannot say enough good things about the camp staff and the activities they have for the children.

I like attending the NEA Patient Conference because it gives me the chance to be around other people with eczema and to get more educated. The field trip that we do as part of the camp is the highlight for me—they are so much fun!
What would I tell another teen or child with eczema who is considering going to the NEA Patient Conference? You will have lots of fun, learn, and be around other people with eczema. Meeting other people who don’t let their skin get the best of them will inspire you. The counselors don’t treat you differently because of your skin.
