In 2022, the research team at the National Eczema Association (NEA) conducted an online survey to better understand the landscape of eczema action plans for atopic dermatitis among NEA’s community of patients, caregivers and providers.

An eczema action plan is a personalized set of instructions that provides guidance on what actions to take when eczema symptoms change or worsen. Eczema action plans are created by patients/caregivers, together with their healthcare provider, to help with self-management of eczema.

Based on the survey responses, the NEA research team found that there is opportunity to improve eczema action plan use, education and utility through more patient personalization and increased instruction for healthcare providers.
